It's been a rough start to the season for Jeff McNeil but a huge solo home run in the eighth inning gave the Mets a two-run cushion they would need as they prevailed 3-2 over the Reds. McNeil: "Just to be able to get that big hit means a lot." Edwin Diaz registered his first save since 2022 and downplayed the pressure of having the tying run on third base. "It was a tough situation but I controlled my emotions really good and I did a good job... at the end of the day we got the W and that's the most important thing." Diaz has even more at stake: a wager to pay for an entire family dinner with brother Alexis Diaz the Reds closer, on who will register the most saves.
